A Message from our Principal!

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I welcome you and your students to the 2013-14 school year.  We welcome our new and returning families to Goldonna Elementary/Junior High School.  Our school is an extraordinary place where we are committed to working closely with each other, our parents and members of the surrounding areas that feed our school.  Our staff works diligently to maintain high educational standards, while providing a curriculum that is rigorous and challenging.  We are currently transitioning to the Common Core curriculum with the rest of our district, Louisiana and forty five other states in the United States to provide a rigorous and challenging educational curriculum that will meet the needs of our students as they enter college and technical schools after high school.  This is a very challenging time for teachers, students and parents; however we are committed to making the transition as smooth as possible in order to provide the best education for our students to be competitive in the 21st century.  Our goal is to teach students to read and think critically, solve problems, and communicate effectively, orally and in print, and to utilize technology in relevant ways throughout their elementary years.  We will continually use our assessments to provide essential data to drive our instruction and cater to the educational needs of each child.

The Goldonna Staff is committed to working collaboratively with you, our parents, to provide the best instruction for each child at his/her achievement level.  We count on you to partner with us to continue our mission to meet the educational, emotional, physical and mental needs of our students to the best of our ability by building positive relationships, providing educational programs that address current needs and accommodating all learning styles following the Common Core curriculum while utilizing best teaching strategies.  We highly encourage you to take an active role in the academic growth of your child by reading to your children, monitoring the completion of homework, checking GAGGLE accounts to communicate with the teachers and monitor your child’s grades, have rich, robust conversations with your children to improve vocabulary and making sure they are in school and on time each attendance day unless they are ill. With the way instruction is delivered, it is impossible to make up lost time by simply assigning homework.

We feel privileged to work with you and your children.  Our students are well behaved, cooperative, and strive to do well.  I’m proud of the efforts our students exhibit.  I’m equally proud of the commitment our parents and staff have to work together for the best of the child.  Of course, we care deeply about the academic growth of each student, but we also care about their emotional, social, behavioral and physical growth as well.  Be assured that your children are in the best of hands at Goldonna Elementary/Junior High School.

We want our school to be a place where your voice is heard.  If you have ideas, thoughts, or concerns you’d like to share, we’d love to hear about them.  You are always welcome at Goldonna Elementary/Junior High School.
Thank you for sharing your children with us!
